Candle Care

Poured in small batches, each Hemlock Park candle is designed to perform from the first strike to the last. A few simple habits preserve the scent, extend the burn, and help every pour reach its full expression.

Set the stage

Place your candle on a heat-safe surface, especially over wood, stone, or marble. A tray or stand protects your surfaces and keeps the pour stable.

Light the candle

Use a long match or lighter and catch the wick low at the base. A clean first light sets the tone for every burn that follows.

Draw out the fragrance

Allow the entire surface to liquefy before extinguishing, typically 2 to 4 hours depending on the vessel. This prevents tunneling and lets the fragrance open fully.

Burn with intention

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it clear of children, pets, curtains, and anything flammable. When you're ready to end the burn, use a snuffer.

Trim and recenter

After each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. For cotton wicks, recenter while the wax is still warm. Both habits keep the next burn even and the fragrance performing at its best.

Know when to stop

Once 1/4 inch of wax remains or the metal wick sustainer becomes visible, the candle has run its course. Burning past this point risks damaging the vessel.
